Here's some shots from the the West Chester Cross Classic on Sunday, November 5, 2023.
I drove back to the shop a few hours later, and bought the 35mm.
Always one of my favorite races to watch and take some photos. The vibe at Sly Fox for this race is fabulous and it is always great seeing a few friends out there.
Some fun shots from a doggy costume contest!
My Sony a99, after a hot day of photographing the Great Valley Crit, starting acting up. After about 40 minutes or so of shooting, I would get an error saying that the IBIS (SteadyShot) was no longer working.
I headed out to take some bike race photos on Sunday. Â
For some reason I got out the macro lens in early May and have rarely put it down! I took a few landscape shots since then, but mostly I've been playing in the macro landscape.
Always keep this in mind when photographing nature. April isn't the cruelest month...March is.
A very small 100-200 mm zoom lens that is easily packable and perfectly fine to shoot with. You can split hairs and zoom in 200% to see that it isn't as good as a $2000 lens...but, really, why would you waste your time?Â
I spent an afternoon in the garage, taking some photos of bicycle parts.
I spent most of January not going out into the cold.Â
My favorite shots from December all came about in very similar situations - while walking around in the fog looking for landscape shots.
I went out shooting last week. Every single morning. Perfect light. Perfect weather. Saw plenty of birds. But got no good photos.
Recently, two lenses and a flash popped up for sale locally on FB marketplace for $30, and I took notice.
I’ve spent the past month thinking a lot about gear.Â
The Phoenix (Cosina) 100-400 slide zoom lens has such a 1980s vibe about it, you feel like making a mix tape and drinking a Zima the moment you use it for the first time.
After yesterday's attack on the US government, I've decided to leave behind my personal FaceBook account.
Sometimes I need to force myself to leave the big lens at home and focus on something else. And, if I see a coyote, or a mink, or a Pennsylvania sasquatch, out on the trail, I'll just have to settle with trying to capture it as best as I can with whatever the hell I've got.
Spent another morning at Conowingo Dam on the Susquehanna River trying to get a few photos of eagles. A bit more successful this time!
I think I've become a discontinued Sony fanboy.Â
Froze my butt off for three hours, no great eagle pics, and, to top it off, my Sony a77 died. Stuck shutter curtain.Â
I have always carried cameras around on my bike rides and as I traveled about to new places. But, for the most part, it was always secondary in my mind---used to get some snapshots of friends or to capture a shot of some location that seemed particularly interesting. I always bought budget cameras, knowing that one small mountain bike crash or one unexpected rain shower might spell their end. And, like it has for most people, my camera was eventually replaced with a cell phone.
